Get Back to JESUS

 By Pastor Mike

I want to talk about getting back to JESUS when we mess up. First of all don’t let anyone tell you that when you mess up JESUS doesn’t want you anymore. That’s a lie from the devil, he just doesn’t want us staying with JESUS.

I had to learn how to love JESUS and learn how to accept HIS love. Even when I first got saved, I wondered how could JESUS love me after all I did that was wrong.

Everybody messes up now and again. But how you feel about it and what you do about it makes a huge difference. There’s 3 guys in the Bible that come to mind right away. First is King David. He planned out his sin with adultery, lying, and murder. Read 2 Samuel chapter 11 for the whole story. David wrote most of the Psalms. Read them too. Its good reading. Then when Peter messed up by denying JESUS 3 times, but he fell on his knees and asked for forgiveness. He was forgiven. Then there was Judas who sold out JESUS and then instead of asking for forgiveness, he went and hung himself because he thought there was no going back to JESUS. I wanna tell you not to listen to the lies of the devil. JESUS will forgive you. We should do our best not to mess up. But when we do, HE’s waiting with open arms to bring us back to HIM.

Psalm 51:1-4

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

When we stop making excuses for messing up, and confess it, we will have a better relationship with GOD and we’ll feel better about ourselves.

We can experience inward healing, and feel better about ourselves if we would just confess our sins to GOD. HE already knows them. HE wants us to confess them to HIM, get forgiveness from HIM and move forward in HIM. Once it’s forgiven, HE forgets about it. Don’t beat yourself up. Don’t let anyone beat you up.

Too many people blame someone or something else whenever they fail.  It’s not always easy to accept responsibility for our failures, but we have to if we want to get our lives back on track. We have to stop blaming others and accept responsibility for our actions.

We can’t blame our sin on anyone else. We can’t blame our sin on the Devil. We’re responsible for our actions.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Getting back on track requires a change of direction—where we stop going our way and start going HIS way. By spending time alone with GOD on a regular basis.

Repentance results in joy. If you’ve blown it, you need to get past feeling guilty and get back on track. Ask GOD to help you change your heart, and change your mind, and change your direction.
