I am in the Place of God!

Genesis-50-19 (1)

By Pastor Jeff,

Joseph had many ups and downs in his journey with Lord, some of his ups include receiving the coat of many colors from his father, becoming the head man at Potiphar’s house, and becoming second in command to all of Egypt in the Pharaoh’s kingdom! Some of his downs would be his brothers attempt to kill him, then selling him to the Ishmaelites, being accused of sexual assault by Potiphar’s wife then ending up in prison, and then being stuck in prison for two years. The one thing is that he never waivered for his love of God and rising above the fray.

When Jacob finally died, his brothers become fearful, Genesis 50:15-20, “And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” What a profound statement of faith and love!

We are all well aware that Satan hates us and seeks our destruction by whatever means he can. When sickness, death, suffering are piled on us as result of sin coming into our world we sometimes want to strike out and blame God. But we know He is not the source of evil and if we can real trust in the love of Jesus Christ we will see Romans 8:28 fulfilled, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

I will share for a moment on how I see this being fulfilled in my life. In the last year I have experienced a little more suffering than I would like to, my good friend died last October 20th, then a week later on October 28th my oldest son died as well. In the time between then and now my youngest daughter was diagnosed again with cancer and even though I believe she will be ultimately be healed it was a tough pill to swallow. Though I had experienced an occasional meltdown my faith in Jesus Christ is stronger than ever. This then leads to how God is turning it into a good thing!

A couple months ago our church as well I’m sure many churches received a letter talking about the local Sheriffs Dept. desire to start a Chaplain program for it’s officers. As I sat in the training class recently where the discussion was more about death and death notifications I thought to myself, “Why am I here?” The Spirit of God living in me brought me to the scripture from Romans 8:28 and I realized that those things that happened to me were meant to destroy me. But I would never of pursued this new chapter without it! God changed what was meant for evil to something good to His glory!

If you are going through a tough period, keep on loving God, trust Him and somehow, sometime, Jesus will turn it into something good!

Terrifying Words

  By Pastor Mike

Luke 16:19-31

19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:

28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

These words could be what it would be like for the death of an unbeliever.  He would want to scream out to his loved ones at his funeral “get your life right with GOD, because you don’t want to come here — a place of agony and torment!”

We can’t let this happen.  We can’t let people die without us telling them about JESUS. What they do with it is on them. That’s why we gotta stay faithful to JESUS and stay away from sin.  If we die without the LORD, then we will be in a place of torment and agony forever. We need to take our spiritual lives very seriously and prepare ourselves for heaven.

Revelation 14:11

“And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

Matthew 25:46

“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”

More terrifying words:

Matthew 7:21-23

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Once a person gets to Hell, there will be nothing anyone can do to help him. “During your life” is all the time you get. If you blow it, it will be too late after that to change the result. You gotta have that relationship with JESUS and live according to HIS Word. Don’t risk an eternity of torment for a few years of pleasure. Get close to HIM today.

WE MUST BE BORN OF THE WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT OR YOU WON’T ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM  ( John 3:5 )

We can’t let our family members, our friends, our neighbors, our co-workers, go any further in their lives without telling them about JESUS and HIS plan of salvation.

WE need to keep building our Faith in JESUS and not be afraid of what happens to us.

Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? Their faith got them through a fiery furnace. Didn’t even smell like smoke.

Noah, preached for 120 years and still had the Faith to keep it up to maybe reach someone to be saved.

Daniel had the Faith to keep praying in the lion’s den.

Peter had enough faith to walk on water when JESUS told him to come to HIM.

Peter and John walking to the temple to pray had tons of Faith to tell that crippled man to rise in the NAME of JESUS and walk. The man jumped up immediately praising GOD.

Don’t Worry

  By Pastor Mike

Matthew 6:25-34

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Some people worry about the future. Some about finances. Some worry about politics. Some worry about the weather. Some people worry about a lot; mostly about something we have absolutely no control over.

JESUS teaches us that you either have fear or you have faith, you can’t have both. It’s one or the other. Either you have your faith in JESUS and then don’t worry or your faith is in yourself and you do worry.

Worrying will make things worse. Cause health problems. Marriage problems. Affect your family. That’s why JESUS says don’t do it. Don’t worry about your life – but learn to trust GOD. Control what you can, give to GOD what you can’t.

The choice we each have to make is what are we going to put first? If we put ourselves first, our needs and desires first, we end up running around like everybody else, never having enough, worried about how we’re going to pay the bills, how we’re going to eat, how we’re going to make the mortgage and we never have enough time, talent or treasure left over to ever really give anything to GOD. But if we seek first HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness, if GOD’s first in our lives, HE says HE’ll take care of the rest.

Lots of people are very worried about money. Sometimes people think it’s hard to put GOD first in your finances. Especially when you have needs. Your bills. So to say, OK since I don’t have enough already, I’m going to give to GOD FIRST, doesn’t really seem to make sense. But it makes a whole lot more sense than we think. The LORD challenges us to try to out give HIM. When you give of your first fruits you’ll see the Blessings just come and come.

1 Kings 17:12-1612 And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

JESUS always provides for us, HE’s just waiting to see if we’ll put HIM first.

Worry is totally unnecessary and unproductive. So is fear and anxiety. Stress and worry and fear causes sickness. Physical and emotional and spiritual. Worrying won’t change anything. Think for a minute about the things we worry about. Politics; worrying can’t change the outcome of an election. Finances; worrying can’t put a single dollar in your pocket. Relationships; worrying can’t change another person? Only prayer will.

Eye Has not Seen…

1-cor-2-9-web-2

By Pastor Jeff,

This scripture gives us three well really four truths as you read verse 10, of how we normally approach our belief system!

Truth cannot be perceived through the eye (senses) despite being only just over two centimetres in diameter, human eyes have over 2 million moving parts. They can distinguish over 500 shades of grey, and over 2.7 million colours.
Our eyes don’t lie: they’re windows to the soul. The best way to get to know someone is to look them in the eyes and observe what they reveal about their emotional state.
But what you think you see can sometimes be deceiving too; Your Eyes Can Make You Hear Different Words, Your Eyes Change the Way Food Tastes,  Have you ever watched a magician or heard of and Optical Illusion?

Truth is not reached by hearing (tradition) now the bible tells us in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” So, we understand that hearing is very important in establishing salvation. So, why is that we have one Bible but we have so many Christian faiths out there?
So, was it Yanny or Laurel?
For many of us it is tradition that makes it most difficult for us to accept a different truth in our faith!

Truth is not discoverable by the heart! “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:” What we feel cannot always be trusted as well and this is probably what causes most of the problems among Christians.
How many times when you find yourself talking to others does the term, “I feel this is what it says, or I think it says this or that” we should take those words, “feel” and “think” out of our vocabulary when discussing Bible truths. We should use the vocabulary that many of the prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and others used when communicating. “Thus sayeth the Lord!”

So how do we obtain truth if we cannot trust our senses, traditions, and feelings? Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

1 Corinthians 2:10-12, “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
How did you gain understanding of who Jesus the Christ is? Was it through what you had seen? Was it your traditional view? Was it how you felt about it?

Matthew 16:13-17, “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

I like this event found in 2Kings 6 that really shows how we approach things in the natural, here we had the king of Syria warring against Israel and heard of this prophet Elisha in verses, 13-17, “And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”

Are you this morning looking around and seeing a vast army that is against us?
Are you being held back by traditions that you are having difficulty riding your mind of?
Are what you feel or think making it impossible to move into dimensions that you have not or believe you cannot reach?

Let’s be led by the Spirit of God;
Acts 8:29, “Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.””
Acts 10:19-20, “While Peter was reflecting on the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you. “But get up, go downstairs and accompany them without misgivings, for I have sent them Myself.”
Acts 13:4, “So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus”
Acts 13:2, “While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

So, did you see any reference to using what they thought, felt, past experiences, in following what God desired of them?

Romans 8:14, “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

HIM Possible

  By Pastor Mike

Mark 10:27

27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Make everything in your life possible because of JESUS.

Luke 1:37

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Anything we do in our lives with JESUS in control will become

HIM possible. When we believe that we can do ALL things through CHRIST it all starts with a strong relationship with HIM. We gotta build our Faith and Trust in HIM to make things possible and give HIM the Glory.

David to slay that lion and to wrestle with a bear and walk away victorious. David knew GOD was always with him and that’s why he looked at an uncircumcised Philistine (David never called Goliath a giant) and knew it was possible to slay him because he knew GOD was with him.

Whatever Goliath you face, whatever mountain you might be standing in front of, the one truth you need to bury deep in your heart is: JESUS loves you, and when you place all your trust in HIM, HE will not let you be defeated.

I’m not talking about going out and look to battle the enemy. I’m saying GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME THAN HE WHO IS IN THE WORLD.

We need to ask ourselves – what are we willing to do or give up in order to put GOD in complete control of all aspects of our lives – to take things from impossible to HIM possible. We’ve got to stop looking at our options – things we feel we should do before coming or giving it to GOD. Don’t follow what the world is doing. Follow HIM.

Ask yourself:

Are you willing to climb through a roof?

Are you willing to bust through a crowd?

Are you willing to step out into a storm and try to walk out on the water to get closer to JESUS, or are you just satisfied with staying with the security of the boat – in your comfort zone.

John 14:12 this is powerful – Jesus said: He that believeth on ME, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. WOW! Greater Works we can do because of HIM in us than HE did here on earth.

All through the Bible you can see people getting in trouble, and when they turn to GOD, that’s when HE makes the impossible, possible.

All the Miracles in Scripture shows us that NOTHING is impossible with GOD – from deadly diseases, tough times or dangerous situations, that’s when people call on the GREAT GOD OF GLORY to make the impossible HIM possible.

I am so excited and Blessed that we don’t have to fight alone or figure things out on our own or even walk through this crazy world by ourselves . We have HIM with us, in us, and soon HE’s coming for us.

Whatever you’re facing in your life now, turn away from it and face HIM. When you get GOD confidence, turn and face that situation knowing that this will not defeat me or destroy me.

GOD loves me so much and cares about every detail of my life and if I cast all my cares on HIM I know nothing will be impossible with HIM.

Take it to HIM, leave it with HIM, and believe HIM that nothing can defeat HIM.

Faith

 By Pastor Mike

Everyone is given a measure of Faith – the size of a mustard seed. Ever see one, it’s very small. It’s up to us to grow our Faith. We grow our Faith whenever we see GOD answer prayers.

So, if everyone is given faith as a mustard seed, how much has yours grown? How many people have put their faith in other things and not in JESUS? Faith can and will move mountains. Faith will remove the mountains in your life. That’s a promise from JESUS.

Don’t let the enemy take your Faith away with his lies and false promises of a better life. Nothing good comes from him. He will always tempt us but it’s always our choice to fall into those traps. He knows our weaknesses and he’ll do anything to throw those obstacles in our paths. Focus on JESUS. You can’t lose.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation is a gift from GOD. HE gave us HIS plan of salvation by repentance, getting baptized in JESUS name and receiving the precious gift of the HOLY GHOST. There are people who think they can work their way into heaven. People will do good works for JESUS. Then brag on how much they do for JESUS. Or they brag on themselves. We give testimonies all the time and we need to ask JESUS “What can I do for you today LORD?”

(a wicked act or thing)

This has got to be the scariest thing that could happen to anyone. There are so many people not knowing JESUS. Not knowing the Truth. That’s why we’re big on having a strong relationship with JESUS. HE will get you to heaven. No one or nothing else. Do you know HIM and Love HIM with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength?

James says, “faith without works is dead.”  Works are to faith what the body is to the spirit.  Our body shows the life of the spirit by our actions.  Work shows our faith.  The only way I can display that I am alive is with my body. The only way that I can display that I have faith is by my works. Having Faith in JESUS should have us do the works of the FATHER. Passing on the Blessing you get, feeding the hungry, praying someone back to health, for financial Blessings, for Peace, comfort, for GOD’S Grace and Mercy. For LOVE. JESUS wants to do mighty things through us. Are we willing vessels?

Faith is believing that no matter how good things are, the best is yet to come.

Keep the Hope

hope-hand.jpg By Pastor Jeff,

1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” We have many sermons about “Faith” and many more about “Love”, but I want to take some time to talk about the middle one in this verse, “Hope”!

Hope is mostly defined as to anticipate something or desire something to happen, when we think of hope we use terms like I hope I get that job, I hope my favorite team wins, I hope we get that house we want, and so on. The bible however says of hope, Hebrews 11:1-3, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Does that sound like a maybe?

The word hope in the bible means; to expect or confide:—(have, thing) hope (-d) (for), trust, in one definition they used the word “concrete”. Interestingly some translations of the word faith in the bible are the same Greek word translated Hope elsewhere, for example, Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith (Hope) without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;). When we place our “Hope” in Jesus Christ we can be certain, Psalms 71:5, “For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.” 14, “But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.”

The enemy of our soul is doing all he can to cause us believers in Jesus Christ to lose hope, and unfortunately our circumstances dictate how we feel about hope more than it should. Sickness, death, finances, relationships all have an affect on our hope. Mercy Me has a new song that I find very powerful in addressing this, one verse goes like this, “I know You are able, I know You can, save through the fire with a mighty hand, but even if You don’t my Hope is in You alone”. This world is not always a pretty place to live but we need to remember that for us believers it’s only temporary. Revelations 21:1-4, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Keep the HOPE, its not a maybe, its concrete!
