Eye Has not Seen…

1-cor-2-9-web-2

By Pastor Jeff,

This scripture gives us three well really four truths as you read verse 10, of how we normally approach our belief system!

Truth cannot be perceived through the eye (senses) despite being only just over two centimetres in diameter, human eyes have over 2 million moving parts. They can distinguish over 500 shades of grey, and over 2.7 million colours.
Our eyes don’t lie: they’re windows to the soul. The best way to get to know someone is to look them in the eyes and observe what they reveal about their emotional state.
But what you think you see can sometimes be deceiving too; Your Eyes Can Make You Hear Different Words, Your Eyes Change the Way Food Tastes,  Have you ever watched a magician or heard of and Optical Illusion?

Truth is not reached by hearing (tradition) now the bible tells us in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” So, we understand that hearing is very important in establishing salvation. So, why is that we have one Bible but we have so many Christian faiths out there?
So, was it Yanny or Laurel?
For many of us it is tradition that makes it most difficult for us to accept a different truth in our faith!

Truth is not discoverable by the heart! “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:” What we feel cannot always be trusted as well and this is probably what causes most of the problems among Christians.
How many times when you find yourself talking to others does the term, “I feel this is what it says, or I think it says this or that” we should take those words, “feel” and “think” out of our vocabulary when discussing Bible truths. We should use the vocabulary that many of the prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and others used when communicating. “Thus sayeth the Lord!”

So how do we obtain truth if we cannot trust our senses, traditions, and feelings? Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

1 Corinthians 2:10-12, “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
How did you gain understanding of who Jesus the Christ is? Was it through what you had seen? Was it your traditional view? Was it how you felt about it?

Matthew 16:13-17, “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.”

I like this event found in 2Kings 6 that really shows how we approach things in the natural, here we had the king of Syria warring against Israel and heard of this prophet Elisha in verses, 13-17, “And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”

Are you this morning looking around and seeing a vast army that is against us?
Are you being held back by traditions that you are having difficulty riding your mind of?
Are what you feel or think making it impossible to move into dimensions that you have not or believe you cannot reach?

Let’s be led by the Spirit of God;
Acts 8:29, “Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.””
Acts 10:19-20, “While Peter was reflecting on the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you. “But get up, go downstairs and accompany them without misgivings, for I have sent them Myself.”
Acts 13:4, “So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia and from there they sailed to Cyprus”
Acts 13:2, “While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

So, did you see any reference to using what they thought, felt, past experiences, in following what God desired of them?

Romans 8:14, “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

Time to Change

f688d2cb13b943f27365c45d75b26403 By Pastor Mike

A couple weeks ago I was preaching about the signs that follow believers. I’m talking about the Miracles that will be happening with believers. You gotta believe with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. I’m serious. It’s time to show the people out there the Hope in JESUS. That’s why change needs to take place.

Let’s ask ourselves the hard questions because salvation is serious. It’s where we end up forever. Are there any areas in our lives that we need to change before we stand before GOD on judgment day? This is a very important question! We need to do a self-evaluation regarding our spiritual lives. Check our hearts.

When we become Christians, GOD EXPECTS US TO CHANGE.

2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things become new.”

When we become Christians, we are a new creation; our old way of life gotta be replaced with a new way of life. So a change must take place. We are to be brand new people who means that our:

Thinking must change. Behavior must change. Commitments must change.

Everything’s gotta change that doesn’t measure up to the kind of life that GOD wants us to live. The change that GOD wants us to have is not just a one-time change, because the Bible teaches that we are to continually change and model our lives to be more like JESUS. It’s an ongoing process. Change is good.

1 Jn. 2:6 “He that saith he abidith in HIM ought himself also so to walk, even as HE walked.”

John means that we gotta walk through our home, our workplace, the grocery store, everywhere we go we should be talking, acting, and thinking like JESUS because JESUS is the perfect example for us to model our Christian life after. GOD expects us to changes in our lives so that we can be the kind of people who HE wants us to be. Amen.

“The meanest man in the Texas Prison System” was a title well earned by Clyde Thompson. Two-time murderer at age 17, youngest man in Texas to be given the death sentence. But 6 hours before he was to die, his sentence was converted to life. After that, Thompson engineered 3 unsuccessful escape attempts and then, murdered two fellow inmates. Of course he was labeled incorrigible and given a solitary confinement cell. But after 28 years, he was released from prison. He spent the rest of his life serving as a Minister until he died a few years ago by natural causes. Now, what made the difference? A guard gave Clyde Thompson a Bible to read and Jesus came into his life. A four-time murderer, in solitary confinement, changed completely.

Anyone can change when given the Hope in JESUS and they need to be willing to change. We can supply the right stuff but only JESUS can change people. IF you really want to change things in your life, then change is possible. There is hope for a new beginning and a new way of life. If you know that you need to make some changes, then you can do it with the help of JESUS.

I’m excited for the changes coming to JAM because the signs and Miracles will always be going on because that’s what JESUS wants. The signs will follow each believer here. It’s time for change. When we are a part of the Miracles, that’s so exciting.

Change is always possible through JESUS. JESUS has so much more for us and all believers. It’s time to make the change for JESUS. The more you fall in Love with JESUS, the more you’ll want to change for HIM.

In the New Testament, JESUS changed lots of people:

Peter changed from a fisherman to a fisher of men.

Matthew changed from a corrupt tax collector to a beloved Apostle.

Paul changed from a persecutor of the church to a lover of the church.

Zacchaeus changed from a thief to a man who gave half his possessions to the poor.

We need to change our hearts. What’s in our hearts are important to GOD. It’s the foundation of our thoughts, passions, desires, affections, purposes. GOD wants our hearts to be right with HIM

Ps. 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

JESUS ain’t concerned with the outward appearance of people because people can put up a phony front. That’s why HE looks at our heart because you can’t hide anything from HIM. Over time our true colors always comes through. If change is coming in your life, it’s gotta start in your heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”

Matthew 23:27-28

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.”

But how do we know if our hearts are not right with God?

If you have bitterness, hatred, anger, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, envy, or jealousy, lingering in your life, if you are constantly critical toward others, or you have any type of sin in your life, your heart needs some changes.

If your heart needs some changes then the good news is that you can change your heart condition. Your heart can be renewed and given spiritual treatment through JESUS.

We need to go to GOD in prayer and ask HIM to change our hearts. Then we need to let HIM. HE will if we really want to change. We need to stay focused on JESUS so we can be more  like HIM.

Regardless of how far a person’s heart is from GOD; GOD can change it.

Search Me

searchmeogod By Pastor Mike

Psalm 139:23-24

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

There’s scripture that asks JESUS to search our hearts. JESUS can see what’s in our hearts, mind, soul and spirit. HE knows our thoughts. Things we give the highest priority in our lives will be what’s in our heart. What you always put before your eyes will be in your heart. Things you listen to will be in your hearts. Things you read will be in your heart. If you’re asking JESUS to search your heart then get ready. There might be some changes coming.

Jeremiah 17:9-10

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?  I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.”

JESUS knows what’s in our hearts. When you follow HIM and get born of the water and the Spirit, you will get a new heart. He’ll remove the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh. A heart that wants to be like JESUS. That loves like HE does. That cares like HE does.

Do you realize the most precious thing you possess is your Salvation. It is more precious than anything else you will ever have.

Mark 8:36

“What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

God is looking at the soul, at the heart, at the real you. This is what really matters: is my heart right with God? If it is, that’s what matters. If you feel yourself getting complacent with your walk with God, all you have to do is light yourself back on fire for JESUS. Get someone to help you if that gets you back on fire for HIM.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”

The old saying, don’t judge a book by its cover. Look in someone’s eyes and you’ll see that’s the window to their soul. You’ll see how people are, not by the outward but by the way they treat people. The way they act towards others.

I wanna end with this scripture.

Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”
