I know this past week has been very disappointing to many christians in that five members of our Supreme Court decided for the 300 million people in this country that the Word of God is irrelevant in its view of that marriage is between one man and one woman. I could easily spend my time writing this blog in dispute of that ruling but I wish to bring a positive message to our readers. Philippians 4:13,says “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Many of us were raised in churches that we heard more about what we shouldn’t, or couldn’t do, we have a brain full of “Cant’s” crammed down our throats. Though the scriptures does cover and tell us to avoid certain things not because that we have a God who is a killjoy, but we have a God who loves us and is trying His best to protect us from things or situations that may harm us. The Apostle Paul tells us in the book of 1 Corinthians 6:12, “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. ” Or in other words, even though I’m free to do certain things it is not beneficial or good for others that God has put into my care to do or be involved in them..
Our gospel is such a powerful, positive message, lets not weigh it down with a bunch of cant’s and don’t do this or don’t do that. When someone is filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, we must encourage them to build a relationship with Jesus Christ, and you know what? they soon will discover for themselves that there are some things that they will choose not to do anymore because of the love they have for Jesus Christ and others.
With God giving us strength, we the church are an invincible force in out world, didn’t Jesus tell us the “gates of hell itself will not prevail against us!”
