Mat 24:1-5, “And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
Mat 24:11-13, “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
For us that where around in the 70’s the “The real thing” was a popular advertising slogan by this company…
It can be traced back to the 40’s but in the 1971 “Hilltop” commercial gained a significant foothold in our culture.
In April 1985, Coke made a huge blunder, “New Coke” though blind taste test showed people preferred this new Coke formula, the public revolted and after 79 days later they went back to the original Coke formula.
Throughout history we have had several persons that have declared themselves to be Christ and many gained huge followings, Theodus in early as the 1st century made this claim, Simone bar Kokhba in the 2nd century, Serene in the 8th century, Shabbati Sevi in 1688 also have made that claim.
In recent history you have had Amy Carlson, Delores Kane, Maurice Clemmons, AJ Miller, Apollo Quibuloy, Alvaro Thais claiming this title.
At a recent Fellowship Council, a person asked this panel a question of what they thought was the greatest danger to the church today, Paul Washer one of those on the panel answered quickly that the biggest threat was “Pastors”! AMEN
He said pastors of today lack a reverence to the Lord and biblical knowledge is rampant in the modern church.
Mar 13:22-23, “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.”
It sickens me when I hear things from those in the pulpit make horrendous nonbiblical claims, and even worse when those in the crowd cheer and agree with those statements. When you see a woman in a robe with a rainbow sash around her neck claiming that Jesus is not the only way or others that say they are proud of the alternative lifestyle they have been born into, my bible tells us that we must be Born Again.
Pro 16:18, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
In spite of what a popular speaker said recently, “I am not God”!
These people avoid with everything you have.
Gal 1:6-9, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
One of the definitions in the Greek for the word “Accursed” is anathema means someone or something intensely disliked or loathed.
I want the “Real Thing”
In this world of AI, lab grown food, it is becoming more apparent that we must draw closer to Christ, we need to have a greater love for truth and understanding of this word. We maybe called narrow minded, but my bible tells me narrow is the way! Labels…
2Pe 2:1-5, “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;”
I get countless things pop up or I am sent of prophets and prophetess decaling things or warnings about this coming feast period or a day in history that has had horrible things happen in the past. I don’t pay attention to those anymore; I pay attention to what Christ has said in these 66 books to the church.
I don’t spend my precious time reading about other religions either, when tellers are trained how to identify fake money, they initially just spend the time in training on dealing with the real thing, as counterfeits are added the feel is different, the weight is different the color is different, and can be mush easily spotted than if the counterfeits where part of the original training.
I like Paul want to know only Christ,
1 Corinthians 2:2, “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
Jesus is the “Real Thing”…
Mat 3:16 -17, “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
