Who Jesus is, thins the crowd!

In the early days of Jesus ministry He attracted crowds and sometimes great crowds wherever He went, Matthew 8:1, “When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him” No wonder considering the things He was saying, Matthew 7:28-29,“And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” The things He did, Mark 2:12, “And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion”. And how He empowered His followers, Luke 10:17, “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.”

In our day we also have large crowds that claim to follow Jesus and many times for the same reason, but when Jesus identifies himself as the one who is the bread of life, we see the crowd thin significantly. In the gospel of John chapter six we see this played out; in this chapter we see alot of things happen, Jesus feeds the 5000, He walks on water during a storm, then arrives on the other side of Capernaum where again a crowd comes to hear Him. They ask Him a question about His heritage, He tells them He was the bread of life and that they must partake of Him because He is of the father. John 6:60-66, “Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.”  Who Jesus is cannot be revealed by traditional beliefs or following laws but only can be revealed by the Spirit. John 6:67-69, “Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”

For me the realization of who Jeus is was very easy, I always had a difficult time trying to understand three seperate co-equal persons of the Godhead, Colossians 2:9, makes it easy to understand, “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Everything that is God can be found in Jesus Christ, the Father, John 14:9-11, Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” The Holy Ghost, John 14:15-18, “If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

Millions and even hundreds of millions are following a doctrine of who Jesus is that is not biblical and we that see Jesus Christ as God manifest in the flesh are being sometimes called in mocking fashion as Jesus only. I rather swim alone with Jesus than in a large school without Him. And besides we prefer to be called Jesus Everything, because to me thats what He is!
