A Prophetic Word

By Pastor Bob Rasmussen

The title of my message this morning is a little different, it is called “A Prophetic Word.” We know that the Word of God tells us what the gifts of the spirit are:

1 Corinithians 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

I have met one person in my life that I felt had the gift of prophecy immensely in their life. She is no longer with us, but her name is Jean Allen. She spoke into the lives of several folks here, and it was a very beautiful thing to be a part of.

There is a very easy test to know if something shared with you is prophetic – compare it to what the word of God says. If it contradicts the word of God, throw it out – reject it.

I have had some moments as well when I think that this gift has manifested in myself. Diana and I often remind each other of things that we said that have since come to pass. I feel it is a very real gift of the Spirit.

Regardless, prophecy is a powerful tool the Lord has for His people.

Many times, you will hear a prophet say, “I don’t know who needs to hear this” or “This is for someone in this room” – that gets my radar up because I don’t think that God is so void of details that He wouldn’t let you know who it is for, amen?

I mean, if the message is truly from God, He must know the recipient.

However, the prophecy that I am about to share is not just for one person; it is for many – dare I say, a nation.

That is what many of the prophecies in the bible were. They were for Kings and nations, divine communication from the Lord to His people, predicting future events, or communicating spiritual and moral messages.

OK, here it is: Here is my prophetic Word – OK, it’s not my prophecy—it is the prophetic voice from 2 Timothy Chapter 3, which is what I am preaching this morning.

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

The apostle Paul is about to describe some characteristics not specifically of a season or time, but rather the characteristics of bad people, of men and women during that time.

Anytime I see “last days,” “last times,” or “things to come,” I try to pay attention. I want to be aware of what might come to pass so that I can be ready to do whatever the Lord would need me to do.

2 Tim 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

There are a lot of words there describing the character of mankind when these end times will come.

Men will be lovers of themselves. We see this all around us all the time. In the age of social media like Instagram and others, people are constantly taking selfies and doing the look-at-me thing. There are tools like filters and software to change your image to make yourself look better than you are to get more followers.

There are so many self-help books that tell us that we need to love ourselves more so that we can have a healthy life.

When the life of a follower of Jesus is the exact opposite of that. We are to what – to pick up our cross daily, to deny ourselves.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

We see less and less of this in our world. I look at some of these large churches and their lifestyles, and some of them seem to show off. Don’t get me wrong; I am not jealous. I just wonder how much people can see Jesus in that kind of lifestyle. Maybe it is just me.

covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers,

Men will be lovers of money or covetous, wanting all the possessions that they can get their hands on. I recently preached that we cannot be lovers of money and that we cannot serve two masters. You will love one, and what? You will hate the other. You will be devoted to one and despise the other.

And in America, in the culture, we have all these celebrities in all things. It does not matter what area. Celebrities in sports, entertainment, music, and everything else. We see these people, and some idolize them, thinking that to be successful in this life, we must have what they have and achieve what they achieve. In so doing, people can lose sight of the will of God in their lives because they have no time for God or love for Him and His Word.

What else? Men will be boasters and proud. I can never think of any generational time where it has been so me, me, me.

Men will be blasphemers.

There have been folks who have always rejected God. Some people do not believe in anything, and some people actively reject God. They say I will not believe in a God I can’t see.

If there is a God, He would show Himself to me.

I can’t see Him either – but look around. All this didn’t happen from a tadpole or a big boom. It is a beautiful and wonderful thing made by God. His hand and Spirit are over everything if you look around, amen?

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I have seen people healed by God, over and over. Healed hearts and minds. I’ve seen Him break chains of addictions and spiritual sickness. I have seen Him rescue the lost. That’s how I see Him, I see Him move! Praise Jesus!

However, there is a sickness that is in America, and no, it is not COVID or measles or whatever the next thing is going to be. It is an open assault on the Word of God, and it is being allowed, it is being funded by offerings in churches. It is my hope that the people participating in this hear this message: you are playing with fire.

You are taking your life and the promise of a life that Jesus came and died for. A life in which we can be cleansed of our sins and filled with His precious Holy Spirit. It is such a beautiful thing. But folks are destroying His Word and the power of His church, and His people.

They are defiling the Word of God with the pleasures of man, changing the Word to accommodate the world’s desires.

Church models are built on revenue streams, and to fund the staff and supporting staff, they are becoming more like the world and less like I believe Jesus would want. And less than His Word.

I do have a prophetic word for the American church. God will not be mocked.

My word for the American church is that it is time to wake up, return to the Word, and stop playing with the souls of men, women, and children.

You need to stop playing, get on your knees, repent, and turn your eyes upon Jesus. The perilous times that Paul talked about are here, and time is running out.

Church is a place for believers to gather, encourage each other, hear God’s Word, and sharpen each other. Stop trying to entertain people and spend more time teaching them about Jesus and His Word—he’ll take care of the rest.

Galatians 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

I think it is only because of His mercy that He is allowing what is happening to happen.

You may ask, what do you mean, Bob, what is happening?

I will apologize ahead of time here for what you are about to see, but truth is truth.

blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

This first video I have here is so infuriating, but I think we need to show light on what is happening in the American church.

REGENDERING GOD VIDEO

So, this is a call to worship. I can see the bible in the pews. I see people who are standing as requested, and they are allowing this drivel to be spoken in their lives. I see the cross and the stained glass, but you know who I don’t see? Jesus

There are references that God is female. Blasphemy. And, of course, the ultimate heretical act of calling God queer.

What I love about our church here, our family, is that I know you all know the Word. You all love the Word. You all try to live the Word the best you can. We all fall occasionally, but we get back up, repent, and keep Jesus in front of us, amen?

I was perusing churches and their About Us and their beliefs. I thought about our church – BIBLE – This is what we believe, from Genesis to Revelation. You want to know what we believe about marriage. It’s right here. If you want to know where we stand on abortion, it’s right here. If you want to know how we love people and help others, it’s right here. We live by it and if needed, we’ll die by it. We love the Word of God. Gentle lay bible down.

But there are folks out there who are being fed a false doctrine by blasphemers and heretics, it is spreading like a disease all across this country.

One of my greatest fears, and I am being serious, is that one of our kids or our grandchildren will say they are going to church, and then they end up going to a church like one of the ones I am showing today.

We hope and pray that we have raised them right and, in the Word. But the Bible also says that in the end, some will be disobedient.

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Men will be liars. They will be slanderers. Well, we just had a presidential election, and man, that has never been so evident. Man has always lied and slandered, but it seems it is at the highest level. False accusations from the media can destroy someone instantly, can’t they?

We can see a move against anyone who wants to have God in the classroom – instead of drag queens- that person looking for holiness and goodness is now the evil one. The world has become so twisted and distorted.

The word fierce can also mean brutal. And the brutality we see in the world is alarming. The things that people do to each other breaks my heart.

All we have to do is turn on the evening news, and we can see how much people are hurting each other in very brutal and evil ways.

The church in America, to draw membership, to fill the seats, to fill the coffers, to try to seem “loving,” – they are changing the Word of God, and they are not hiding it.

This video is in England but it happens in the American church as well

I understand that people can be confused in life; it may take them a minute to figure things out. But in the end, we are who we are—a man or a woman. And yes, identity is sacred.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

That is it. It is in your very DNA who you are; you can’t change it. I don’t care if you dress up and get hormone therapy; you are either a man or a woman. That is what God says. The church needs to stand on the Word of God and not succumb to the pressures of society.

Jesus wants to save every last one of us; that’s His heart, but He will not change to accommodate your feelings.

He will not change to accommodate your lust. He will not change to make your lifestyle acceptable – that is a perversion that makes you a lover of pleasure and not God. He is who He says He is.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

There was a time that Diana and I did a little church hopping. We were hurt in a church, and that was a very hard season. We went to a few churches until we found one we felt was right. That taught the Word and had respect for God. We found one. Praise God, that was JAM. This church has blessed us tremendously.

But if you are church-hopping to try to find a church that fits your personal life and your sin problem, you are doing it wrong.

That video we just saw was a false teacher. It is inherently against the Word of God. He will be judged, but hear me on this, especially if you are going to a church like this – you, too, will be judged.

Yes, He is manipulating the Word of God, but in this day and age, we all have access to a bible. You have a responsibility to read it. Look, God knows about the internet. He knows that you can read your bible on your phone. It is a gift, and it is a responsibility.

If someone is distorting the Word of God – RUN! Don’t clap your hands and throw money in the offering plate.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

However, I am finding that many churches accept and even welcome sin as a matter of normalcy. It isn’t just creeping in; it is being displayed with the approval of church leadership.

They even let it be displayed as a “solo”.

Christian Drag Video

This is wrong on so many levels. What bothers me, and what really upsets me in all these videos, is that there are people, souls, being subjected to this and being told this is alright, that this is special, and that this should be celebrated. Shame on them, shame on the leaders, and shame on those attending and allowing it. Lord, open their eyes!

And knowing how churches work, there is usually a board, or elders, or some governing body. Shame on you! You need to reach down, repent, grab the Word of God, and get things in line.

Diana and I often, a lot lately, tell our body to get in line. To be healthy. It is time for the American church to get it’s body in line, to get healthy. To get back to the Word of God and not succumb to the pressure of society.

We are called to be set apart.

Leviticus 20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your God. 8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the Lord which sanctify you.

The American church needs to embrace the covenant we have with Christ and grow with Him so that we can truly be His hands and feet. The current state of the church is that, in general, it is becoming a stumbling block and a detour. He has plans so much greater than where things stand.

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Priesthood, Holy – called out of darkness, not into it! Peculiar means that we are different because we are His. Because we love Him, because He is our Savior – that’s what makes us different. Not our sexuality or perversion. His righteousness, His Word, His love. We should strive to be that Holy Nation, amen?

I have one more thing to say to the American church: Stop trying to be the popular kid in class. Stop trying to be the shiny object. You need to be the light of the world, but in my opinion, you’re doing it wrong.

BABYSHARK VIDEO

I mentioned the last time I preached that this music was on the video of the most popular video ever, with billions of views.

What does this have to do with Jesus?

What does this have to do with honoring God?

What does this have to do with sharing the gospel of Jesus?

I believe that worship needs to honor God and be as good as possible. I try my best, as everyone does on the worship team.

But if you come and say we need pirates, a ship, smoke, and fireworks, I am a hard pass.

One more: Kick bible video :

If you try dragging people to church on Super Bowl Sunday by kicking the Word of God stunts, Lord have mercy. It was a foam-filled Bible case, but the imagery is still there.

You do not treat the Word of God like that. What are you teaching children? Really, whatever would be the purpose of God in this? Have you no respect or honor for His Word –  pause – I think I know the answer.

I could go on and on with example after example, but that is enough. Again, churches in America, if you are doing any of these things that are vehemently against the Word of God, stop playing, stop pretending that God doesn’t care or know. You are messing with the lives and souls of His children.

Our opening scripture 2 Timothy 3 ends powerfully with this.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Amen, amen, and amen!

Again, I have hinted at some of this stuff in sermons and messages. It gave me no joy to share these videos; it was not a gimmick; it was to shed light on the sin problem of what is happening in the American Church. Sometimes, you have to see it to believe it.

It is not good.

You want to know why they are having a revival in other countries? It’s because of the Word. God’s Word.

People are preaching the whole, unedited, pure word of God

It is doing what He said it would do, amen?

American church – wake up! The Lord’s return is closer than you think!

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
