2017-2018

By Pastor Jeff,

As we begin the year 2018, I want to take a moment to look back at the year 2017 which was a crazy year worldwide. We witnessed several natural disasters with the earthquake in Mexico, the Hurricanes that hit the US, and we are still watching the devastation from the fires in California. We were appalled by the shootings in Las Vegas and in the church in Texas. We are seeing what seems a greater divide in Washington and this great country than ever before. This may seem deflating, but to us at Janesville Apostolic Ministries (JAM) it’s just further proof that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is returning soon.

I would now like to look back a bit at what has occurred at JAM this past year. It was a year filled with it’s share of challenges and trials with the passing away of Pastor Mike’s mom, our dear friend Russ, and my son Jeff. It was by the power of God’s grace and the love of friends and family that allowed us to make it through these difficult times. We also of course witnessed many, many victories in answered prayers, we had four baptisms in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, and Gustav Mohns received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost speaking in other tongues.

We at JAM have always loved events where we can enjoy fellowship not just with our members but the many guest that come to them. We had movie nights, a Soup Cook-off, Valentines dinner, Golf Outing, Ice Cream Social, Harvest party, Chili mix, and singing at Huntington Senior Citizen home, to name a few and in the year 2018 we once again will be putting on these events and maybe more!

In our children’s Sunday school our dedicated teachers continued to teach on the truths of God’s creation. In the adult Sunday school we had sister Bonnie Hawley lead us through many studies on “The Veil”, the “Book of Ecclesiastes”,  “Grace” just to name a few. Hebrews 13:7 says, “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.” Teaching is very important to us at JAM and as we have been searching deeper into the word of God we are finding that not everything we once believed or was taught is true, Colossians 2:8, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” God’s word will always stand alone at JAM!

We also are seeing our worship team becoming more cohesive, freer in leading us into the presence of God or maybe more appropriate, bringing the presence of God into our midst. Let the shekinah glory of God fall on our church in 2018 in greater measure than ever before.

Lastly I would like to share about our preaching team consisting of pastor Mike and me. We once again had several memorial messages such as “The Power in the Name of Jesus, Holy Ghost Fire, Truth or Tradition, The Heart of God” and so on.

So as we close the books on the year 2017, our prayer is for health, happiness, hope, and experiencing our Lord Jesus Christ more than you ever have before!
