God’s Benefits

By Pastor Jeff,

Everybody appreciates a job that gives you a benefit package especially one that covers health insurance these days. It has been said that someone has calculated the benefits in the bible and has counted 3573 promises, another person says it’s 5467, and even another has said 31,173 promises or in other words every verse in the bible. I will just share a few of them here as God tells us Psalms 68:19, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.”

Salvation is one that is the most easy to see as John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” With that comes a place reserved in heaven for us, John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” What an awesome benefit for knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Philippians 4:7 tells also that we receive peace that passeth all understanding, 1Peter 1:8 tells us joy unspeakable, and 1Peter 1:18-19 tells us how valuable we are to Him that he purchased us with His own precious blood! 1 John 2:1 tells us that He is our advocate, Deuteronomy 31:6 and Hebrews 13:5 says that He will never leave us nor forsake us! We receive our healing by His stripes in Isaiah 53:4-5 and we receive supernatural power after we receive the precious Baptism of the Holy Ghost, Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

These are all awesome benefits and there is another one we don’t think about much that is very important to me; it’s what King David said in Psalms 38:4, “For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.” Sin is a horrible burden for us to bear and unfortunately even after we have has our sins remitted in the waters of Baptism in Jesus name sometimes because of tradition and church teaching we often allow mans convictions, misinterpretation of the bible to shame and humiliate us. Jesus has freed us not only from our past sins, but also the present and our future mistakes and thank God He does. Because no matter hard our try I still do stupid, but Jesus came to give us a way out from the burden of sin, Matthew 11:28-30, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” He indeed loads us down with Benefits!
